Educational Background
Dr. Anna Muench was born and raised in the countryside in central Pennsylvania near Richfield. She attended school from 1st grade to her senior year at Northumberland Christian School where she graduated valedictorian of her class.
After high school she went on to pursue a degree in microbiology from the Pennsylvania State University. Go PSU!
- At Penn State she earned her bachelors in microbiology and minored in biochemistry and molecular biology.
- She graduated with honors from Schreyer’s Honors College and had the privilege of being the Marshall for microbiology at her graduation.
After her undergraduate degree, she went on to earn her Doctor in Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. During her time at the University of Maryland:
- She participated in the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research’s Short-term Research Training program for two years
- She became one of the first two dental students accepted into the Howard Hughes Medical Research Fellowship Program
Dr. Muench graduated at the top of her class with several honors and awards as well as with the distinction of Summa Cum Laude from the University of Maryland Dental School and went on to a three year residency in Orthodontics. Dr. Muench earned both her Master’s in Oral Biology and her Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Maryland.Â
Professional Journey
After Graduation, Dr. Muench practiced orthodontics in Maryland for ten years prior to returning home to Pennsylvania to join Dr. Stush and create Stush and Muench Orthodontics in 2022. After Dr. Stush retired in December 2024, Dr. Muench took over the practice, and it became Lewisburg Orthodontic Associates. Dr. Muench focuses on creating beautiful smiles in a welcoming and family-centered environment. Â
Certifications and Memberships
Dr. Muench is committed to staying current with her education and providing excellence in orthodontics to her patients.
- She is American Board of Orthodontics Certified while only approximately 1/3 of orthodontists have succeeded in completing this process.
- Dr. Muench is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontics as well as a member of the Pennsylvania State Dental Society and the American Dental Association. Â
Community Involvement
Dr. Muench is also devoted to excellence in dentistry for the community and is the leader of the local Spear Study Club, which provides local dentists and dental specialists the opportunity to learn more about interdisciplinary treatment. Together, they work as a team to provide optimal outcomes for complex dental care for patients in the local community.Â
Outside the Office
When Dr. Muench isn’t in the office, she loves to spend time with her family, her husband, Theo, of over 21 years and her dog, Izzy, a beautiful female papillon. Â Dr. Muench is an accomplished athlete who was a four-time member of Team USAÂ in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019 for the Age Group World Triathlon Championships, where she competed for the USA.
She has since retired from triathlon but is still an avid runner and has done the Boston Marathon 4 times … so far.  When she is not working, you may see her running around town or out on the local trails. Â
